A quick guide for employers on the Plenty of Hires Candidate Profile.

Hiring works best when expectations are clear — and not every candidate is job hunting the same way. That’s why Plenty of Hires offers three different candidate profile types, designed to reflect how people actually look for work today. Some candidates are actively searching and ready to move fast. Others bring deeper experience and want more ways to showcase their skills. And many — one of the largest and most overlooked talent pools — are passive candidates who want to explore new opportunities discreetly and on their own terms.

In smaller communities, especially where people talk, and word travels fast, many qualified workers have never felt safe openly job hunting. Instead of risking their current role, they’ve stayed off the market altogether. Incognito Profiles change that. These candidates are available and open to better opportunities, but they remain in control of who they engage with. Not every request will be approved — and that’s okay. What matters is that these candidates are finally visible, approachable, and within reach — and sometimes, that opportunity is with you.

This guide walks you through our Role Fit Assessment and the three candidate profile types, so you know exactly what information you’re looking at — and how to use it to connect with the right candidates more effectively.

First, What the Role Fit Assessment Shows You

Before you look at any profile on Plenty of Hires, it’s important to understand one thing: Every candidate completes our Role Fit Assessment before they ever appear in your dashboard.

This isn’t a personality quiz, and it’s not a résumé replacement. It’s a practical, job-focused assessment designed to show you how someone actually works, what they’re looking for, and where they’re most likely to succeed.

The Role Fit Assessment helps uncover:

  • Core skills and experience level

  • Job preferences (schedule, location, pay range, job type)

  • Work environment and culture preferences (team vs solo, structure vs flexibility, pace, etc.)

  • Motivators and soft skills (what drives them, how they operate, what keeps them engaged)

  • Licenses, certifications, and industry background

  • What kind of role they’re truly looking for — not just what they’re qualified for

Why this matters: Instead of guessing based on a résumé, you get a clear picture of whether someone is a fit for the role and the environment before you ever pick up the phone. This dramatically improves interview quality, hiring speed, and long-term retention.

Basic Profiles

All profiles, including basic candidates, complete our Role Fit Assessment, which gives you a solid overview of the candidates:

  • Key skills

  • Experience level

  • Work preferences (schedule, location, pay range)

  • Licensing or certifications they shared

  • The job type they want

  • Culture and Environment Preferences

Why it matters: This is your straightforward, no-frills snapshot — enough to understand whether they’re in the ballpark for what you're hiring.

Premiium Candidate Icon

Premium Profiles

Premium profiles include everything from a Basic profile plus added detail:

  • Full work history

  • A custom bio about the candidate

  • Expanded soft/hard skills

  • Achievements, project experience, and photos

  • And more

Why it matters: This helps you get a deeper read on the candidate without needing a résumé. Great for roles where experience and detail make a difference.

Incognito Profiles

Incognito profiles are part of and meant for our passive candidate pool — these are individuals who may already be working but are open to better opportunities.

They include:

  • Everything from the Basic and Premium profiles

What makes them Incognito is:

  • The candidate's name and contact info are hidden until approved

  • Their current employer and past employer names are hidden until approved

Their info is hidden until THEY approve the match.

When you click Connect, the candidate receives a request in the app and/or by email. If they approve it, their identity, contact information, and full work history become visible to you. In the meantime, you can still view their skills, bio, certifications, and the rest of their full profile.

Why it matters: Passive candidates are gold in the recruiting world, and this profile gives you access to high-quality, passive candidates you won't normally see on job boards — while still protecting their privacy.

⭐ Which profile type is “best”?

They’re all useful — just in different ways:

  • Basic: Fast overview, good for quick screenings, hiring in bulk, or finding entry-level candidates

  • Premium: Will provide more detail, better for skilled or leadership roles

  • Incognito: Higher-quality passive talent, great for hard-to-fill positions, or offering better opportunities

⭐ Final Tip

Whichever profile type you’re viewing, make sure to use:

  • The 24-Hour Rule (The 24-Hour Rule means contacting a candidate within 24 hours of matching, because the faster you reach out, the more likely you are to get a response.)

  • The Double Dial (Call twice in a row, because back-to-back calls signal urgency and dramatically increase answer rates.)

Both dramatically increase connection rates.
