What We Expect from Candidates at Plenty of Hires

If you're thinking about signing up with Plenty of Hires, this is worth the three-minute read. We want to set you up for success in your job search, but like anything, it's a two-way street.

We built this platform because the way construction hiring works right now is broken. It sucks. You fill out applications, send in resumes, and then wait — most of the time, to never hear back. Or you get called for something that sounds nothing like what you actually wanted. It's exhausting, and it doesn't have to work that way.

We do things differently. With us, you complete a one-time job fit assessment and provide us with some additional information. From there, we match you with employers who actually fit, and they reach out to you directly. No job board. No resume. No applying over and over.

But it only works if both sides show up. Here's what that looks like on your end.

Be honest on your assessment.

The assessment is everything. It's how we figure out where you fit, what kind of work you actually want, and what kind of crew you'll do your best work with. If you answer the way you think sounds good instead of the way that's actually true, the matches won't be right — and that wastes everyone's time, including yours.

Be real about your schedule, your pay expectations, and your goals. The more accurate you are, the better your matches will be.

Keep your profile current.

If something changes — your availability, what you're looking for, your pay expectations — just go back into your assessment and update it. It takes a few minutes, and it makes a real difference in the quality of your matches.

If you've found work and you're no longer looking, head to Account Settings, then Billing & Subscriptions, and deactivate your matching. That way, we're not sending employer interest your way when you're already taken care of.

One good thing to know: if your profile sits inactive for 60 days, it deactivates on its own. So if you're still in the search, just stay active.

When an employer reaches out, try to respond.

We know the world is full of spam calls and scam texts. It's a lot of noise. But when you get a call or message about a job through our platform, that's a real employer who looked at your profile and decided they want to connect. That's exactly what you signed up for.

You don't have to take every opportunity. But a quick response goes a long way — even if it's just "thanks, this isn't the right fit for me right now." You hate being ghosted. So do they.

The employers here aren't trying to fill a seat for two weeks. They're building crews. They want people who show up, communicate, and want to grow. Those are the people who get hired — and get hired again.

That's really all we're asking.
